Rookie David Gruel won his first feature race on July 17th in the DDR # 50! Starting in the front row of the feature line-up, David took off on the green and led the race flag to flag. It turned out to be an exciting finish with Otto working his way through the pack and finishing a close second. (It appears that the # 50 confused some folks as to what team the car is a part of. In April we surprised David with the number that he has run with for his entire racing career.) Pat Lavery again turned in a solid performance finishing 4th in the #22 car. Although not that fond of the title “Mr. Consistent”, Pat is in the thick of the point chase! As we head into the home stretch we look forward to seeing what Pat and David have for the “$10,000.00 “ race and “Classic”.

On the “low” side of the weekend, Ed Hoefer, Bob’s dad, passed away Sunday morning after an illness of several months. Ed was a great supporter of the DDR team and was happy to learn that David had won on Saturday night. While there are many things that could be said about Ed, we’ll just narrow it down to “ he was a gentleman and great friend”.

There will of course be the usual raffles and other festivities to accompany the event, along with some tunes provided by Millennium Music. The cars will also be on hand decked out in their 2010 trim. The weather people say it should be a great day tomorrow so stop on out!

Double Deuce Racing confirms today that Bobby Magner will not return as the driver of the DDR #22 for the 2010 race season. Winning several heat races and four features, including back-to-back “Mr. Supermodified” titles, Bobby proved what we knew at the start of the 2008 season, he is a talented race car driver. We appreciate the time he spent with us and he will always be a great friend of Bob, Bill, Linda and the entire DDR team. We wish Bobby success in whatever he chooses to do in the future.

No plans have been finalized at this time for the 22 car for the 2010 season.

Pat Lavery will continue on as the driver of the DDR #2 for the 2010 season. Pat has become known as a very competitive and consistent driver throughout his two years with us. We look forward to 2010 and are still working toward Pat’s first (and more) feature win!

Wow! It’s Thursday already. In the event that you weren’t there or don’t get The Pall Times or Valley News, YES, Bobby won on Saturday.
Since it is Thursday and either there is no article on the Oswego Speedway web site or it’s buried where I can’t find it, let me say it again:
“Bobby Magner wins his second consecutive Mr. Novelis Supermodified $10,000 title!!”
Now on to answer the most popular questions:
No, you can’t get a loan, it’s been spent for months.
Yes, Billy is still smiling. It was pretty easy to find him Sat.
No, Bob did not have a heart attack.
Yes, that WAS Bob that you heard still laughing at 8:30AM Sunday.
Even though she gave us a little scare in warm-ups, GOOD Sybil (22) did come through.
Yes, Bobby did stand on the bar at LHL.
Yes, the cup on the trophy leaks.
Seriously though, we were all overwhelmed. We can’t thank Bobby enough for not giving up. That goes for Pat as well. We have two “SUPER” guys behind the wheels of the 2 & 22. They have no idea how good they are:) or how much we appreciate them.
Our crew makes it happen each week! To “the guys”:
Sean LeBlanc, Len LaGoe,Joe Scanlon, Bob Lowery, Don Gioia, Jimmy Izyk, Dave Elen, Sam Bradford, Bob Magner, Jim King, Mike Ceterski and their spouses or girlfriends and families…..
Our sincere thanks for all the time you spend, your hard work and your dedication!!!
Tammy & Kelly:Thanks for sharing:)
Mom Magner- “For all you do….”

For those of you who check our site for updates on a regular basis, sorry for the gap over the last few weeks. Sometimes there is just nothing that comes to mind! This past weekend certainly was one of mixed emotions. Pat had a great run in the MSA “$10,000. to win race”.A top 10 finish in the event for Pat in the #2 was very satisfying. In Pat’s own words, “that was the most fun I’ve EVER had racing.” Not qualifying the 22 was a bit disappointing, but not the worst thing that has ever happened. With 36 cars attempting to qualify through time trials, it’s a “tough row to hoe”, and a poor time trial puts one in a tricky situation right off the bat. Bentley’s last lap pass in the consi kept the 22 on the sidelines for the feature. I may need to re-think the “snickerdoodles” that go to Bentley when he’s in town. Anyway, another week is ahead of us. The usual maintenance has to be done and we’ll keep trying to figure out what is going to make the 22 a happy race car. We are ever grateful to Pat and Bobby for their efforts and dedication to the team. They are both so talented and sometimes the results fall short of their expectations of themselves due to “car issues.” Our crew is the BEST and we thank them for their dedication! Maintaining 2 cars each week is no easy task, but we manage to have some fun along the way. Thanks to everyone and we’ll see you at the races!

Another week, another hustled repair!!!

After a nasty trip into the 2nd turn wall during the first heat race, the crew had to get down to business to fix the front end of the 22. We have the GREATEST CREW and drivers!!! They got the car ready in time to start the feature. Bobby was able to take the car out for a few laps before parking it for the night. Points are critical this year.

Pat had a great night in the 2. After winning his heat, he brought the car home in 4th place in the feature. The racing was close throughout the race.

So, a pattern seems to be developing.

We have had a car finish 4th every week thus far. Bobby and Pat are taking turns.

They have each won a heat race as well.

Both cars are stripped down for repairs and weekly maintenance.

We look forward to next week, hopefully, a night where no repairs are necessary!

See you at the races!
